Recipients of appropriations from the environment and natural resources trust fund that are children's service providers must certify they perform criminal background checks on all employees, contractors, and volunteers with access to children.

The background check requirement applies as part of the work plan required under Minnesota Statutes section 116P.05, subdivision 2.

"Children's service provider" is defined by Minnesota Statutes section 299C.61, subdivision 5.

The requirement becomes effective July 1, 2021, and applies to recipients of money appropriated on or after that date.
