SF7 - Corrections and Public Safety Appropriations

• Appropriates $14,904,000 to the Department of Corrections for fiscal year ending June 30, 2021, with $9,888,000 designated for correction institutions overtime and staffing costs and a base of $12,338,000 annually from fiscal year 2022 onward.

• Allocates $4,430,000 for community services including $2,000,000 for Community Corrections Act subsidy, $310,000 for county probation officer reimbursement, $422,000 to increase Department of Corrections offender supervision, and $430,000 for Meeker and Renville County offender supervision services.

• Provides $1,268,000 for community services overtime and staffing costs and $586,000 for operation support overtime and staffing.

• Appropriates $3,096,000 to the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension for testing unrestricted sexual assault examination kits, storage of restricted kits, and development of an informational website for survivors to track their kit testing status, with a base of $2,067,000 annually from fiscal year 2022 onward.

• Takes effect the day following final enactment.
