MN HF22

Establishes a new provisional ballot procedure for voters whose registration status is listed as "challenged" or whose eligibility to vote is challenged under Minnesota election law.

Requires judges to confirm a voter's name, address, and date of birth before the voter signs the polling place roster or voter signature certificate.

Allows challenged voters to cast provisional ballots in a separate envelope with required voter information, and permits voters to appear before county auditor or municipal clerk within seven calendar days following the election to prove eligibility and residence.

Requires county auditor to verify that the number of provisional ballot roster signatures equals or exceeds the number of accepted provisional ballots before counting them in final vote totals.

Effective June 1, 2021, and applies to all elections held on or after that date.
