Appropriates unspecified amounts from the parks and trails fund to the commissioner of natural resources for fiscal years 2022 and 2023 for grants to regional parks and trails outside the seven-county metropolitan area.

Grants must support parks and trails meeting the definitions and criteria in the Greater Minnesota Regional Parks and Trails Strategic Plan adopted April 22, 2015.

Grant awards must be based on annual recommended projects submitted by the Greater Minnesota Regional Parks and Trails Commission to legislative committee chairs and ranking minority members with jurisdiction over legacy appropriations.

Identifies 12 recommended projects for fiscal year 2022, including Olmsted County Oxbow Park and Zollman Zoo, Goodhue County Byllesby Park, Mesabi Trail, Lake County Mountain Bike Trails, Gull Lake Trail, Moorhead River Corridor Trail, Chisago County Sunrise Prairie Trail, Wright County Connecting People with the Outdoors, Luverne Loop and Blue Mounds Trail, Winona Bluffs Traverse, and Sandstone Robinson Park.

Grant recipients must submit applications to the commissioner of natural resources.
