H.F. 2221 - Hero Payment for Long-Term Care Workers

• Commissioner of revenue must make a $700 hero payment to qualifying long-term care employees.
• Qualifying employees must have worked at least 1,000 hours at a long-term care facility during calendar year 2020, been employed as of March 15, 2021, and be Minnesota residents.
• Part-time employees receive a reduced payment calculated as $700 multiplied by their part-time percentage (hours worked in 2020 divided by 2,000).
• Employees must apply for payment by September 30, 2021, through a process the commissioner establishes by June 1, 2021.
• Sufficient funding is appropriated from the general fund to the commissioner of revenue to cover all payments, effective the day following final enactment.
