Commissioner of Education must develop a foundational blueprint for statewide computer science education in elementary and secondary schools by January 31, 2023, including curriculum standards, teacher professional development, and licensure plans.

Blueprint must include a plan to expand computer science education opportunities to every district school site and charter school within five years and annually report disaggregated enrollment data by student demographic groups.

Commissioner must establish an advisory task force with 14 member categories including legislators, educators, business representatives, and computer science teachers from metropolitan and rural areas; appointments due by June 1, 2022.

Task force meetings are subject to Minnesota Open Meeting Law, members may be compensated per Minnesota Statutes section 15.059, and the task force expires January 31, 2024.

$20,000 is appropriated from the general fund in fiscal year 2023 to the Department of Education for the Computer Science Advisory Task Force, effective July 1, 2022.
