Appropriates $2,400,000 in fiscal year 2022 from the general fund to the commissioner of public safety for a grant to the Ramsey County Sheriff's Office to prevent and combat violent crime including murder, assault, carjacking, and crimes against the person in the seven-county metropolitan area, with focus on areas experiencing the largest increase in violent crimes since July 1, 2020.

Allows the Ramsey County Sheriff to coordinate with other sheriffs' offices, police departments, and Metro Transit, and to reimburse or directly compensate peace officers from other jurisdictions assisting in the crime prevention efforts.

Appropriates $600,000 in fiscal year 2022 from the general fund to the commissioner of public safety for State Patrol's air patrol operations coordinated with the Ramsey County Sheriff to prevent and combat violent crime in the seven-county metropolitan area, with concentration in areas with the largest increase in violent crimes since July 1, 2020.

Allows unexpended funds not used by June 30, 2022 to remain available and be used for these purposes through December 31, 2022.

Requires the commissioner to report by February 1, 2023 to legislative committees with jurisdiction over criminal justice policy and finance on the use of appropriations, their impact on reducing violent crime, and recommendations for future state appropriations.
