$275,000 is appropriated from the general fund in fiscal year 2023 to the commissioner of employment and economic development for a grant to the University of Minnesota Tourism Center.

The grant funds creation and operation of an online hospitality training program in partnership with Explore Minnesota Tourism.

The training program must be provided at no cost to Minnesota residents to address critical workforce shortages and support career development.

$25,000 of the fiscal year 2023 appropriation is designated for maintenance and management of the training website and online program.

Starting in fiscal year 2024 and beyond, the ongoing base appropriation is $25,000 annually for maintenance and management.
