Health plans must limit cost-sharing for prescription drugs treating chronic disease to no more than $25 per one-month supply for each drug and $50 per month total for related medical supplies.

Chronic diseases covered are diabetes, asthma, and allergies requiring epinephrine auto-injectors.

Related medical supplies include syringes, insulin pens, epinephrine auto-injectors, test strips, glucometers, continuous glucose monitors, and other items necessary to administer chronic disease medications.

Requirements apply to medical assistance recipients under Minnesota Statutes sections 256B.0631 and 256L.03, as well as health plans under section 62Q.481.

Effective date is January 1, 2023, for health plans offered, issued, or renewed on or after that date.
