Requires public schools (school districts and charter schools) to provide substance misuse awareness and prevention instruction at least once to students in grades 6 through 8 using age-appropriate materials.

Mandates that instruction include the role of social media in substance misuse and illegal drug distribution, and may be integrated into existing health standards and curriculum.

Strongly encourages public schools to provide evidence-based substance misuse awareness and prevention instruction to students in grades 9 through 12.

Encourages public schools to use peer-to-peer education programs to deliver substance misuse awareness and prevention instruction.

Defines "substance misuse" according to Minnesota Statutes section 254A.02, subdivision 6a.
