School districts must establish procedures allowing parents, guardians, or adult students (18+) to review all instructional materials at no cost and immediately upon request.

Parents or guardians may arrange alternative instruction if they object to curriculum content, either through the school district or independently if school-offered alternatives do not address their concerns.

School districts are not required to pay for alternative instruction provided by parents or guardians, but school personnel cannot impose academic or other penalties on students solely for arranging alternative instruction.

School personnel may evaluate and assess the quality of student work regardless of alternative instruction arrangements.

School districts must notify parents of this policy at the beginning of each school year via United States mail, email, or other direct communication, and include the policy in official school handbooks or policy guides.
