School boards and nonpublic schools may mutually agree to a written plan for the board to provide transportation services to nonpublic school students.

School boards providing transportation through employees may transport nonpublic students under the plan and retain nonpublic pupil transportation aid attributable to that plan.

School boards contracting for transportation services may enter into contractual arrangements with school bus contractors to transport nonpublic students and retain nonpublic pupil transportation aid for paying the contractor.

Nonpublic schools may make payments to school districts to cover additional transportation services agreed to in the written plan that exceed services required under sections 123B.84 to 123B.87.

School districts must report the number of nonpublic school students transported and nonpublic pupil transportation expenditures to the commissioner in the form and manner specified.
