Amends Minnesota Statutes section 375.08 to add an alternative vacancy-filling procedure for sheriff and county attorney positions

County board may call a special election to fill sheriff or county attorney vacancies instead of using the standard appointment process

Special election must be held at the earliest of two times: not less than 120 days after vacancy is declared but no later than 12 weeks before the next primary election, or no sooner than 120 days after the next general election

Person elected at the special election takes office immediately upon receiving the certificate of election and filing required bond and oath, serving the remainder of the unexpired term

Other county offices (auditor, treasurer, recorder, surveyor, coroner) continue to be filled by county board appointment when vacancies occur
