Collection agency employees may work from a location other than the licensee's business location if they comply with all requirements that would apply at the business location, effective June 1, 2022.

Collection agency license fee is $500 with renewal at $400; collector registration and renewal fee is $10, effective June 1, 2022.

Commissioner of commerce must develop and maintain a document listing nonprofit Minnesota organizations providing credit counseling services, available on the department website in printable format, completed by July 1, 2023.

Credit counseling document must include contact information for organizations providing services in languages other than English and a specific disclaimer statement in English, Spanish, Somali, Hmong, Vietnamese, and Chinese.

Collection agencies must include the credit counseling document with initial written communications to debtors sent via United States mail, e-mail, or text message, with compliance required by September 1, 2023.
