School districts and charter schools that require face coverings must allow parents to opt their child out of the requirement by notifying the school board, principal, or administrator.

Schools cannot require parents to provide a reason for opting out or submit evidence related to the child's health or education status.

Schools are prohibited from disciplining or treating differently any child whose parent has opted them out of a face covering requirement.

Creates new Minnesota Statutes section 121A.80 to codify the face covering opt-out provision.

The section becomes effective the day following final enactment.
