$1,750,000 is appropriated from the general fund in fiscal year 2023 to the commissioner of employment and economic development for grants to Unidos MN Education Fund and the New Justice Project MN.

Funds address employment and economic disparities for people of color, immigrant communities, and low-income unemployed or underemployed individuals.

Money supports preapprenticeship and workforce training, career development, worker rights training, employment placement, entrepreneurship support, and related support services.

Funds develop transferable skills in high-demand fields related to construction, clean energy, and energy efficiency.

Grant funds are split equally, with 50 percent going to Unidos MN Education Fund and 50 percent going to the New Justice Project MN.
