HF 4708 - Local Bus and Transit Improvement Act

• Metropolitan Council must convene a working group by August 1, 2022, to plan transit signal priority systems on high-frequency bus routes in the seven-county metro area, with a report due December 15, 2022, and the group expiring December 31, 2022.

• $1,500,000 appropriated in fiscal year 2023 to reduce fares to $1 maximum for all bus and light rail service from July 1 to August 31, 2022, with remaining funds available for transit shelter improvements.

• $3,600,000 appropriated in fiscal year 2023 for transit shelter replacement and improvements under the Metropolitan Council.

• $15,000,000 appropriated in fiscal year 2023 for zero-emission bus procurement and associated costs, available until December 31, 2027.

• $500,000 appropriated in fiscal year 2023 for arterial bus rapid transit planning on the J, K, and L Line projects, with $250,000 added annually to the operations base.
