Commissioner of employment and economic development shall establish an accessibility for the arts and cultural economy grant program, awarding funds through a community development financial institution (CDFI) intermediary organization to eligible grantees.

Eligible grantees are 501(c)(3) nonprofit or Tribal arts and cultural facilities (theaters, galleries, cultural centers) located in Minnesota with fiscal year 2019 revenue of $1,500,000 or less.

Grants fund Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance renovations and capital projects at arts and cultural facilities, with maximum grant amount of $2,000,000 per eligible grantee.

Selection priorities include ADA compliance projects, significance of project, financial need, available matching funds, number of people served, and geographic balance across Minnesota.

$50,000,000 is appropriated from the general fund for fiscal year 2023, with 0.1 percent allocated for program administration, available until December 31, 2024, and intermediary organization must submit initial report by January 15, 2023 and final report upon full expenditure of funds.
