Appropriates $143,000 in fiscal year 2022 and $143,000 in fiscal year 2023 to the commissioner of human services for a grant to an organization governed by people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to maintain and promote self-advocacy services and supports statewide.

Grant funds must support training and a statewide network of peer-to-peer mentors for people with developmental disabilities to assist with choosing service options and learning advocacy skills for community inclusion.

Grant funds must provide outreach activities including statewide conferences and disability networking opportunities focused on self-advocacy, making informed choices, and community engagement skills, plus an annual leadership program.

Appropriates $105,000 in fiscal year 2022 and $105,000 in fiscal year 2023 for subgrants to organizations to conduct outreach to persons in institutional settings and deliver peer-led skill training in six state regions.

Peer-led training must cover community service options related to housing, employment, education, transportation, Olmstead plan initiatives, and connecting individuals with resources to make informed choices and transition to community services.
