$1,000,000 appropriated in fiscal year 2023 from the general fund to the commissioner of public safety to coordinate with the POST Board on a marketing and advertising campaign promoting the importance of peace officers and recruiting persons into law enforcement careers.

Commissioner must report by January 15, 2024 to legislative committees with criminal justice jurisdiction detailing campaign spending, marketing activities conducted, media types used, and objective measures of campaign success and efficacy.

$1,000,000 appropriated in fiscal year 2023 from the general fund to the commissioner of public safety for reimbursement grants to state and local law enforcement agencies operating pathway to policing programs for persons with nontraditional backgrounds.

Reimbursement grants may cover up to 50 percent of the cost of compensating and training pathway to policing participants, allocated proportionally based on the number of approved grant applications.

Both appropriations are one-time only.
