Commissioner of Public Safety must issue Minnesota agriculture special plates to registered owners of passenger automobiles, noncommercial one-ton pickup trucks, motorcycles, or recreational vehicles who contribute at least $20 annually to the Minnesota agriculture account and pay applicable fees and registration taxes.

Plate design must be developed in consultation with the commissioner of agriculture and include depiction of lands and activities related to agriculture.

Special plates may be transferred to another qualifying vehicle registered to the same individual for a $5 transfer fee.

Annual contributions are deposited into the Minnesota agriculture account in the special revenue fund, with funds appropriated to the commissioner of public safety first for administrative costs, then distributed to the Minnesota FFA Foundation and University of Minnesota Extension Service for 4-H programming.

Provision becomes effective January 1, 2022, for special plates issued on or after that date.
