Commissioner of health shall develop a grant program to award grants to health care entities including health care systems, hospitals, nursing facilities, community health clinics, federally qualified health centers, rural health clinics, and health professional associations.

Grants must support evidence-based or evidence-informed programs addressing mental health of health care professionals by identifying barriers to care, encouraging professionals to seek support, identifying suicide risk factors, or developing self-care and resiliency resources.

Health care entities must submit applications including a program description, achievable objectives, and an evaluation process; commissioner shall prioritize programs involving peer-to-peer support.

Commissioner shall evaluate grant program effectiveness by measuring impact on health care professional burnout and retention, with results and recommendations submitted to legislative health care policy and finance committees by October 15, 2024.

$5,000,000 is appropriated from the general fund in fiscal year 2023 for the grant program as a one-time appropriation.
