Appropriates $2,500,000 in fiscal year 2023 from the general fund to the commissioner of employment and economic development for a grant to The Ethiopian Community in Minnesota, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

Grant funds may be used to acquire property and to predesign, design, construct, renovate, furnish, and equip an Ethiopian Community Center.

Center will serve as a gathering place for Ethiopian youth and families to connect with their Ethiopian history and culture.

Designated as a onetime appropriation available until the project is completed or abandoned, subject to Minnesota Statutes, section 16A.642.

Effective the day following final enactment.
