Legislative auditor must conduct a compensation survey of electrical inspectors under state contract through the Department of Labor and Industry by January 1, 2023.

Survey shall compare compensation for contract electrical inspectors with compensation rates for licensed electricians using the most recently completed calendar year data.

Auditor must examine inspectors' administrative duty workloads not directly supported by inspection fees, existing contract requirements and fee structures, and factors affecting compensation including geographic size of inspection areas, permit values, number of permits issued, and inspection time variations by type.

Legislative auditor shall submit the survey report to chairs and ranking minority members of house and senate committees with jurisdiction over labor and industry policy by January 15, 2023.
