Appropriates $10,000,000 from the general fund in fiscal year 2023 to the commissioner of public safety for grants to fire departments.

Grants reimburse fire departments for costs of personal protective equipment including fire coats, pants, flak vests, helmets, and boots.

Commissioner awards grants based on recommendations from the Fire Service Advisory Committee established under Minnesota Statutes section 299F.012, subdivision 2.

Grant recipients must provide a local match based on the population of their coverage area, as determined by the commissioner.

This is designated as a one-time appropriation.
