Commissioner of Education must award grants for school nurse recruitment programs, including district staff training partnerships with postsecondary institutions and secondary school student programs with nursing career exploration opportunities.

Grant funds may support tuition scholarships, licensure fees, recruitment, future nurse clubs, wraparound services, and scholarships for high school students entering undergraduate nursing programs.

Commissioner must establish a school nurse scholarship program for nursing students with financial need, offering up to $7,500 per academic year, with students required to submit affidavits committing to work in Minnesota school districts.

Expands existing health professional loan forgiveness program to include school nurses agreeing to practice in school districts or charter schools.

Appropriates funds from general fund to Department of Education for fiscal year 2023 (specific amounts blank) for school nurse recruitment grants and scholarships, effective July 1, 2022.
