Commissioner of health shall award grants for child mental health training programs located in outpatient primary care clinics that train pediatric providers working with multidisciplinary mental health teams.

Eligible training programs must provide comprehensive clinical mental health assessments, potential pharmacological therapy training, psychiatric consultation, emphasis on longitudinal care, and develop community resource partnerships.

Grants may fund planning costs, training site improvements, equipment and supplies, and clinical training support for implementing new or expanding existing child mental health training programs.

Commissioner shall award grants to support up to four training program proposals after reviewing applications that include program descriptions, costs, funding sources, expected results, and sustainability plans.

$1,000,000 appropriated in fiscal year 2023 from the general fund to the commissioner of health for the mental health training programs.
