S.F. No. 4442 - Greater Minnesota Transit Appropriation

• Appropriates $10,000,000 from the general fund in fiscal year 2023 to the commissioner of transportation for the public transit assistance program, as a one-time appropriation available until June 30, 2025.

• Funds may be used for fuel and vehicle cost increases, consultant costs for transit planning and design, transit facility construction, county-to-county bus service planning, electric vehicle charging infrastructure, zero-emission vehicle procurement, technology improvements, and hiring bonuses.

• Commissioner must allocate financial assistance awards by December 1, 2023, and recipients must expend funds by December 31, 2024.

• Recipients are not required to commit nonstate funds exceeding five percent of the amount provided under the appropriation.
