Commissioner of health shall conduct a study on obesity in individuals with intellectual disabilities, in consultation with the commissioner of human services and relevant stakeholder groups, addressing behavioral, environmental, and systemic factors.

Study recommendations must include data tracking options, barriers to weight management services, health promotion activities and dietary strategies, communication strategies for health risks, and training for health care providers.

Commissioner shall submit study recommendations to legislative committees with health care policy and finance jurisdiction by February 15, 2023.

Pilot program enrolling up to 15 adults with intellectual disabilities shall provide access to fitness facilities and personal trainers, dietitians, wellness education, and fitness trackers to measure impacts on weight, blood pressure, blood sugar, and other health metrics.

$400,000 one-time appropriation from general fund in fiscal year 2023 for the study and pilot program, with a report due to legislative committees by November 1, 2023.
