S.F. No. 4560 - Education Benefit for Dependents of Disabled Veterans

• Establishes education benefits for dependent children of veterans with 100 percent permanent disability or 70 percent or higher disability ratings.

• Eligible recipients must be enrolled in undergraduate degree or certificate programs at Minnesota state institutions or University of Minnesota Board of Regents schools.

• Awards cover 100 percent of actual tuition, fees, and books (after subtracting state and federal grants and aid) for dependents of 100 percent disabled veterans; 50 percent coverage for those with 70+ percent disability ratings.

• Awards do not affect recipients' eligibility for state grants under Minnesota Statutes section 136A.121.

• Institutions must request payment from the Office of Higher Education only after confirming student enrollment or completion of the term for which payment is intended.
