Appropriates $2,400,000 in fiscal year 2021 from the general fund to the commissioner of public safety for a grant to the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office to prevent and combat violent crime in the seven-county metropolitan area.

Hennepin County sheriff must coordinate with other sheriffs' offices, police departments, and Metro Transit, with concentrated efforts in areas experiencing the largest increases in violent crimes, including murder and assault.

Appropriates $600,000 in fiscal year 2021 from the general fund to the commissioner of public safety for the state patrol's air patrol use to prevent and combat violent crime in the seven-county metropolitan area.

Allows unexpended funds not used by June 30, 2021 to remain available through December 31, 2021 instead of reverting to the general fund.

Requires the commissioner of public safety to report to legislative committees by February 1, 2022 on how the appropriations were used, their impact on reducing violent crime, and recommendations for future appropriations.
