Jue Lee was born January 1, 1919, in Kang Khe, Laos, to Chong Yia Lee and Mee Vang, and was the eldest of nine siblings.

Jue Lee immigrated to St. Paul, Minnesota, in September 1986 as a refugee from Laos and became a U.S. citizen in 1994.

After her son's death, Jue Lee raised 13 of his grandchildren while maintaining a legacy of hard work and family devotion despite her small stature of 4'10".

Jue Lee inspired her niece Choua Lee to run for public office in 1992, becoming the first St. Paul School Board member of Hmong descent, and was an active supporter of Senator Foung Hawj from ages 92 to 100.

Jue Lee passed away peacefully on March 12, 2021, at age 101, and the Senate expresses condolences to her family while honoring her remarkable life.
