School districts and charter schools that require students to wear face coverings must allow parents to opt their child out of the requirement by notifying the school board, principal, or school site administrator.

Schools cannot require parents to provide a reason for opting out or submit evidence related to the child's health or education status.

Schools cannot discipline or treat differently any child whose parent has opted them out of a face covering requirement.

The law becomes effective the day following final enactment.
