All grades kindergarten through grade 12 must present at least one hour per year of "Erin's Law" personal body safety instruction covering good touch, bad touch, private areas of the body, speaking to trusted adults, and not keeping unsafe secrets.

The Department of Education must provide this instruction information electronically to schools by September 30 of each year starting September 30, 2023.

School districts may also include broader child sexual abuse prevention instruction covering recognition of abuse and assault, boundary violations, grooming tactics, and strategies to promote disclosure and reduce self-blame.

$899,000 is appropriated from the general fund in fiscal year 2024 to the Department of Education for implementing "Erin's Law," with school districts and charter schools receiving $1 per pupil based on average daily membership in the 2023-2024 school year.

This is a one-time appropriation that will be prorated if insufficient to cover all eligible pupils.
