Medical assistance covers hospice respite and end-of-life care for recipients age 21 or under who elect to receive hospice care in a licensed residential hospice facility under sections 144A.75 to 144A.755.

Recipients age 21 or under who elect hospice services do not waive coverage for services related to treatment of the condition for which terminal illness was diagnosed.

Payment rates for hospice respite and end-of-life care match rates for covered respite care delivered in licensed residential hospices under 1915(c) waiver programs.

Payments must be made from state funds, though the commissioner shall seek federal financial participation; payments go directly to the residential hospice facility and are not subject to limits or caps on hospice services payments.

Federal Medicare certification of the residential hospice facility is not required for medical assistance payment under this program.
