HF 2534 Summary

• School districts must award high school credit for coursework completed before high school enrollment if the work satisfies high school academic standards.

• Credit awarded must be equivalent to the credit a student would receive for completing the same standards after enrolling in high school.

• Applies to students beginning 9th grade in the 2011-2012 school year and later, with existing graduation requirements in language arts (4 credits), mathematics (3 credits), science (3 credits), social studies (3.5 credits), arts (1 credit), and electives (7 credits).

• Effective date is July 1, 2023.
