Commissioner of health shall conduct a study on obesity in individuals with intellectual disabilities, in consultation with the commissioner of human services and stakeholder groups, addressing behavioral, environmental, and systemic factors.

Study shall include recommendations on data tracking, barriers to weight management, health promotion activities, communication strategies, and training for healthcare providers by February 15, 2024.

Commissioner of health shall establish a pilot program enrolling up to 15 adults with intellectual disabilities, providing access to fitness facilities, personal trainers, dietitians, wellness education, and fitness trackers.

Pilot program shall measure impacts on participant weight, blood pressure, blood sugar, and other health metrics, with a report due November 1, 2024, to legislative committees on health and human services.

$400,000 in fiscal year 2024 is appropriated from the general fund to the commissioner of health as a one-time appropriation for the study and pilot program.
