• Establishes state licensure for clinical art therapists through the Board of Marriage and Family Therapy, effective July 1, 2023, with unlicensed practice prohibited starting July 1, 2025.

• Requires clinical art therapist applicants to hold a master's or doctoral degree in art therapy from an accredited program, pass the Art Therapy Credentials Board certification exam, and complete 4,000 hours of supervised post-degree clinical experience.

• Creates a provisional license pathway for applicants meeting education requirements but still completing supervised experience hours, with provisional licenses renewable up to five times.

• Establishes a five-member Clinical Art Therapy Advisory Council (four licensed clinical art therapists and one public member) to advise the board on licensure standards, enforcement, complaints, and continuing education.

• Requires 40 hours of continuing education every two years for license renewal, with at least 20 hours in art therapy practice and at least 3 hours in ethics and professional studies.
