Commissioner of commerce must conduct a study evaluating the potential costs, benefits, and impacts of advanced nuclear reactors operating in Minnesota.

Study must analyze impacts on air emissions, retail electricity prices, electric grid reliability, state air/water/land resources and public health, employment opportunities, and local economic development.

Study must identify Minnesota statutes and administrative rules requiring modifications to enable construction and operation of advanced nuclear reactors.

Commissioner must submit study results to legislative committee chairs and ranking minority members by January 31, 2024.

$100,000 appropriated from general fund in fiscal year 2024 as a one-time appropriation to conduct the study.
