H.F. No. 333 - Summary

• Teachers who successfully completed a teacher preparation program and passed licensure examinations in another state are not required to pass additional similar examinations in Minnesota.

• Teachers with three consecutive years of teaching experience in another state who served a probationary period in that state must serve a probationary period of no longer than one year in a Minnesota school district, rather than the standard three years.

• The requirement applies to teachers in both standard school districts and cities of the first class under separate statutory sections (122A.40 and 122A.41).

• Candidates for Tier 3 and Tier 4 elementary teaching licenses must still pass test items assessing knowledge in scientifically based reading instruction and reading development.
