Districts and schools may obtain and possess epinephrine auto-injectors to be administered by school personnel to any student or individual in good faith determined to be experiencing anaphylaxis, regardless of whether they have a prescription.

Administration of epinephrine auto-injectors by school personnel under these circumstances is not considered the practice of medicine.

Registered nurses may administer epinephrine auto-injectors in schools according to a condition-specific protocol as authorized under nursing regulations.

Licensed practical nurses may administer epinephrine auto-injectors in schools using a condition-specific protocol that does not reference a specific patient but specifies circumstances for administration.

The amendments take effect July 1, 2024.
