Expands the definition of "assisted living facility" to include any facility, setting, or development that markets or holds itself out as assisted living, an assisted living facility, assisted living with dementia care, memory care, or a memory care facility, regardless of funding source.

Modifies the definition of "exempt setting" to clarify it means settings providing assisted living services but exempted from licensure under specific housing finance provisions (clauses 10-13 of section 144G.08, subdivision 7, paragraph (b)).

Applies assisted living facility requirements to exempt settings effective January 1, 2025, including written subsidized assisted living contracts, resident rights protections, contract termination procedures, financial handling standards, and bill of rights provisions.

Exempts settings owned or operated by counties or other governmental units from certain facility restrictions under section 144G.42, subdivision 3.

Repeals existing subdivision 2 (contracts), subdivision 3 (contract termination notice), and subdivision 9 (remedy) of section 325F.722, replacing them with comprehensive new regulatory requirements.
