• Licensed ambulance services, medical response units, and specialized medical response units may be reimbursed for initial and continuing education costs of volunteer ambulance attendants, emergency medical responders, and emergency medical technicians.

• Reimbursement is capped at $900 for initial education courses and $375 for continuing education courses, and may include tuition, transportation, food, lodging, and hourly payment for course time.

• Individuals must serve as active members of a Minnesota licensed ambulance service for one year from their final certification exam date before reimbursement is paid.

• Unspent appropriations for volunteer education cost reimbursement shall carry forward to the following fiscal year for purposes of section 144E.50, with no portion retained for administrative costs.

• The carryforward provision is effective June 30, 2024, and applies to money appropriated in fiscal year 2024 or subsequent fiscal years.
