H.F. 5436 - Accessible Housing Task Force

• Establishes an Accessible Housing Task Force to examine housing experiences of persons with disabilities, practices of housing providers, and recommend legislation to increase supply of safe, affordable, accessible housing.

• Task force consists of 13 member categories appointed by the governor by July 1, 2024, including five persons with disabilities, two parents, representatives from state agencies and disability advocacy organizations, housing contractors and developers, and housing stabilization service providers.

• Minnesota Housing Finance Agency shall convene first meeting by August 15, 2024, and task force must research how other states and localities address accessible housing and develop recommendations for statewide education and local planning policies.

• Task force must submit an initial report by February 1, 2025, and a final report by August 31, 2025, to legislative committees with housing jurisdiction containing findings and recommendations for improving accessible housing supply, quality, and affordability.

• Task force expires the day after submitting its final report; an unspecified amount from the general fund is appropriated for fiscal year 2025 to the Minnesota Housing Finance Agency as a onetime appropriation.
