HF 619 Summary

• Amends Minnesota Statutes section 121A.031, subdivision 4, to require school districts and charter schools to notify parents of both the target and actor within 24 hours of receiving a report of prohibited conduct, violence, or harassment.

• Creates new section 121A.07 requiring schools to notify parents or guardians within 24 hours of reports that a student was targeted by violence or prohibited conduct, engaged in such conduct, or had reasonable force used against them by school personnel.

• Requires notifications to comply with state and federal data practices laws, including section 13.02, subdivision 8.

• Effective July 1, 2023.
