School districts and charter schools that require face coverings must allow parents to opt their children out of the requirement.

Parents may notify the school board, principal, or school administrator to opt their child out without providing a reason or health/education documentation.

School districts and charter schools are prohibited from disciplining or treating differently any child whose parent has opted them out of a face covering requirement.

The law is codified in Minnesota Statutes chapter 121A as section 121A.80 and becomes effective the day after final enactment.
