Commissioner of health shall develop a grant program promoting uterine fibroid education outreach and public awareness campaign focused on risks and non-hysterectomy treatment alternatives.

Education outreach program must disseminate information on incidence and prevalence of uterine fibroids among diverse racial and ethnic populations, associated risk factors, and range of medically appropriate treatment options.

Commissioner shall consult with health care providers on evidence-based approaches to treating uterine fibroids when developing the education program.

Public awareness campaign shall partner with nonprofit organizations, consumer groups, institutions of higher education, and local private entities to conduct training, culturally specific outreach events, social media campaigns, press releases, and multichannel marketing strategies.

$2,500,000 is appropriated from the general fund in fiscal year 2024 for grants to implement the program, with $100,000 in yearly funding thereafter.
