• School boards and nonpublic schools may mutually agree to a written plan for the school board to provide transportation services to nonpublic school students.

• School boards using their own employees may transport nonpublic students and retain the nonpublic pupil transportation aid attributable to that plan, with nonpublic schools able to pay for additional services not required by law.

• School boards contracting with bus contractors may enter into contractual arrangements to transport nonpublic students, retain the applicable transportation aid to pay the contractor, and accept nonpublic school payments for additional services beyond legal requirements.

• School districts must report to the commissioner the number of nonpublic students transported and expenditures incurred under these agreements.

• The bill is effective for fiscal year 2024 and later.
