School boards that purchase nonschool facilities and convert them to school buildings may qualify for long-term facilities maintenance revenue adjustments if the purchase and remodeling cost less than new construction.

Eligible school districts may include heating, ventilation, and air conditioning projects in their ten-year facilities maintenance plans when necessary to meet certificate of occupancy requirements for converted facilities.

Department of Education must adjust long-term facilities maintenance revenue for eligible school districts to include these HVAC and conversion costs.

Appropriates unspecified amounts from the general fund to the Department of Education for fiscal years 2024 and 2025 to support additional long-term facilities maintenance aid.

Effective the day following final enactment and applies retroactively to nonschool facilities purchased on or after January 1, 2019.
