Appropriates $600,000 in fiscal year 2024 and $600,000 in fiscal year 2025 from the general fund to the Department of Education for the Minnesota GreenStep Schools program.

Allocates $400,000 annually to the Minnesota Design Center at the University of Minnesota to lead the program, including research-based best practices, coordination of program operations, technical support, evaluation, and recognition for participating schools.

Allocates $200,000 annually to the Department of Education for program administration, integration with existing academic standards and best practices, and training for schools and districts.

Program provides free and voluntary environmental and sustainability initiatives to kindergarten through grade 12 school districts, charter schools, and private schools to reduce environmental impacts and costs while improving student and staff health.

Establishes the fiscal year 2026 base appropriation at $600,000.
